Ai tools are amazing. But there are certain things you should never use them for. Not because of the scary robot stuff. Just because they actually suck at doing it.
1. Medical diagnosis
And ai can provide you with basic health info so it’s not a bad thing in this sense but never make a self-diagnosis on the basis of a single source of such so that you decide whether to take a tablet, because it can be wrong. It doesn’t know your background and that kind of mistake can carry serious consequences.
2. Legal advice on important matters
Ai can show you generalizations about how laws work. But for anything that has real consequences in your life –contracts, disputes, rights – a real lawyer is necessary. Ai can provide background of information for you to build upon, but don’t solely rely on ai for any legal decisions.
3. Recent news and current events
Most ai tools have a knowledge cutoff date. They don’t know what happened last week. For current events, google it, go to reputable news sites, or use ai tools with live web search capability like gemini or chatgpt with browsing.
4. Verifying important facts
Ai always sounds completely confident, even when is is making a mistake. It can invent statistics, attribute quotations to the wrong people, and give you false information with as much confidence as you like. Always check anything you want to use in the original sources.
5. Replacing human connection
Ai chatbots are quite effective for conversation. However, they can never replace human interaction, or a professional’s advice and support. If you’re facing hardships, do reach out to someone.
Ai is effective when you use it as a tool, rather than an expert. Understand its limitations and this will be valuable to you.
